Henry C L Kunkel

Henry C. L. Kunkle, 59, of Kempton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 while working in Picayune, Mississippi .

Born in Allentown , he was a son of Esther (Snyder) Kunkel, a resident of Cedarbrook, Allentown, and the late Wayne H. Kunkel. He was a 1973 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, New Tripoli. Mr. Kunkel was the owner/operator of KTD Express, Inc., Kempton, working as an over-the-road truck driver for over 40 years. He received the National Transportation Agency Award for One Million and Three Million Accident Free Miles. A racing enthusiast, Henry raced car #71in the Street Stock division, at Dorney Park Raceway, Allentown, from 1977 to 1983 .

He is survived by Daughters, Kelly K. (Kunkel) Schaeffer, companion of Darryl L. Mills, Kempton, Tracy L. (Kunkel), wife of Christopher J. Hunt, Landisburg, Perry Co.; Sister, Diane (Kunkel), wife of Fred Folland, Germansville; a Granddaughter, Karlee Lynn Schaeffer; Karlee's father, Michael C. Schaeffer, Kutztown; and his best friend and ex-wife, Darlene C. (Strunk) Kunkel, Shoemakersville.  Henry was predeceased by a Brother, Kenneth Kunkel .

Memorial Services will be held Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Arthur L. Hahn, officiating. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home .
