Mrs. Helen R. Leiby

Helen R. (Mertz) Leiby, 86, of Maxatawny Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA. She was the loving wife of Albert W. Leiby, whom she married on July 6, 1957.

Born in Maxatawny Township, Helen was a daughter of the late Victor and Helen (Schucker) Mertz. Helen worked briefly at H.K. Deisher Knitting Mills and Saucony Shoe Company, both of Kutztown, but for the majority of her life, was a Homemaker, who took great pride in her home and raising her family. Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening, and watching the hummingbirds who came to visit her.

Mrs. Leiby is survived by her five children, Julia A. (Leiby) Hummel, Kutztown, Richard L., husband of Carol (Schuler) Leiby, Kutztown, Sandra F. (Leiby), wife of Linwood Rohrbach, Kutztown, David R., husband of Theresa (Everett) Leiby, Loysville, PA, and Loretta L. (Leiby), wife of Richard Savidge, Alburtis; eleven grandchildren and four great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her three siblings, Mildred (Mertz) Seidel, Kutztown, Larry Mertz, Kutztown, and Harold Mertz, Fleetwood; and was predeceased by her sister, Mae (Mertz) Adam.

A graveside service and burial in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, will be held privately by her family.
