Helen Josephine Werme

Helen Josephine Werme, 84, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of Boylston, Massachusetts, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 in the residence of her daughter Nancy, with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of David A. Werme. They were married June 14, 1952.

Born in Shrewsbury, MA, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Marie L. (LaVoie) Cote. Mrs. Werme was a member of St. Frances of Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, Spring Hill, FL. She was a 1946 graduate of Ascension High School, Worcester, MA, and a 1949 graduate of Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, Worcester, MA. Mrs. Werme was employed as a home health care nurse for four years in Brookville, FL. Prior to that, she owned and operated Happy Hours Day Nursery School, Boylston, MA, for many years. Mrs. Werme was instrumental in developing the minimum standards state laws for daycare centers in Massachusetts. She also served as a police matron and dispatcher for the Boylston Police Department for 25 years, and was employed as a registered nurse by Worcester City Hospital and Shrewsbury School District. Mrs. Werme was a former Girl Scout and 4H club leader in Boylston, MA, and Spring Hill, FL, for a total of over 30 years. She was also a member of the Model A Ford Club, and the Red Hat Society of Spring Hill, FL.

She is survived by Husband, Daughters, Nancy E. (Werme) wife of Donald P. Bucci, Kutztown, PA, Jane M. (Werme) wife of Gary D. Lanpher, Petersham, MA; Son, James A. husband of Jennifer (Smith) Werme, Trilby, FL; Sisters, Cecile (Cote) Tod and Patricia (Cote) Laughlin; Brothers, James Cote and William Cote, 8 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by a Sister, Marjorie (Cote) Turrini, and a Brother, John Cote.

The family will host a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, with The Rev. Monsignor Walter T. Scheaffer as celebrant, and Friday, September 7, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in Weeki Wachee Sr. Citizens Club, 3357 Susan Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34606. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

The family requests contributions be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 2166 South 12th Street, Allentown, PA 18103-4792. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
