Heather M Smith

Heather M. Smith, 29, of Plattsburgh, NY formerly of Mertztown, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 in Fletcher-Allen Health Care, Burlington, VT. She was the fiancée of John W. Moody, Plattsburgh.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Lee A. and Denett L. (Younger) Smith, Mertztown. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Bowers. She was employed as a home health aide for North County Home Services, Plattsburgh. Heather was a 1998 graduate of Brandywine Heights Area High School, Topton, and a 2008 graduate with an Associate’s degree in Math and Science from Clinton County Community College, Plattsburgh. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross. A cross country runner, Heather was training to compete in her first marathon to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Heather was an amateur artist and enjoyed writing poetry, having had a poem published a few years ago. She was eco-conscious, understanding the need to be mindful of our impact on the earth.

She is survived by Parents, Fiancé, Sister, Ashley A. (Smith) wife of Scott E. Leinbach, Jr., Topton; Brother, SSgt. Andrew L. husband of Michelle R. (Clark) Smith, Stationed at Hill Air Force Base, Utah; Maternal Grandparents, Robert R., Jr. husband of Arlene M. (Geiger) Younger, Mertztown; Paternal Grandparents, Lucille M. (Mussleman) Smith, Macungie and the late William J. Smith; also, future Step-Children, Aaron, Olivia and Audrey. In addition, there is a Niece, Victoria E. Estrada, and a Nephew, Christopher L. Estrada.

Funeral Services are Monday, April 5, 2010, at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
