Harold W Moyer

Harold W. Moyer, 80, of Highland Avenue, Kutztown, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, shortly after admission. He was the husband of the late Anna S. (Schappell) Moyer who died on February 2, 2000.

Born in Schuylkill Haven, PA, he was the son of the late Harold A. and the late Ellen (Miller) Moyer. He was a sales person for 38 years for Boyertown Packaging Company, Boyertown. During the l990’s he was a realtor for John Monaghan, Kutztown; and last worked as a part time employee for Weis Markets, Kutztown. He was a 1944 graduate of Boyertown High School, Boyertown. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII serving on the USS George A. Johnson in the Pacific Invasion. He was a member of the Kutztown Borough Council from 1974 to 1976; served on the Kutztown Zoning Board from 1976 to 1985 and has served on the Election Board from 1990 to 2006. He was President of the East Penn Valley YMCA from 1972 to 1976 and received the Reading Berks YMCA Service Award in 1976. He was a former member of the Lions Club, a member of Hugeunot Lodge #377, F. & A.M. and VFW Post #560 all of Kutztown; and, a member of the Ray A. Master American Legion Post #217, Topton. He was a former Boy Scout leader, a member of the Brandywine Minstrels, the Kutztown Senior Citizens and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was also a member of the courtesy ski patrol at Bear Creek (formerly Doe Mountain) from 1982 to 1988. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he was a Sunday School Teacher for the Seventh Grade and the Adult Class during the 1970’s and 1980’s; a member of the Church Council from the late 1970’s to the early 1980’s; and a choir member for many years.

He is survived by Daughter, Rosalie A. (Moyer) Freudenberger, Bethlehem; Son, Kirk H. Moyer, Singapore; Sisters, Bernice (Moyer) Mertz, Pompano Beach, FL, Joan (Moyer) Albrecht, Boyertown; 5 Grandsons, 3 Great Grandsons. He was predeceased by a Daughter, Jol-Ann (Moyer) Rauenzahn, November 6, 1998

Funeral Services are Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 10:30 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown. Interment with Military Honors in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM.
