Harold R. Flicker, of Topton, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 in his residence after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was a hero. He was the husband of Jayne (Schappell) Flicker.
Born in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late Norman and Helen (Rohrbach) Flicker. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Mertztown, where he served as treasurer for over thirty years and was a member of the bell choir. He was a graduate of Kutztown High School. For many years, he worked at the family business, N. H. Flicker and Sons, Inc., in Maxatawny. He was later employed by Fuel Injection, Sales and Service, Inc., where he retired in 2011.
He is survived by Wife, Son, Matthew, husband of Jennie M. (Whitaker) Flicker, Nazareth; Daughter, Kelly Flicker, Allentown; 3 Grandchildren, Rachel Claire, Jack Marshall, and Elliot James Flicker; Brothers, Kenneth husband of Gertrude Flicker, Maxatawny, Carl husband of Loretta Flicker, Kutztown, and Ronald, husband of Deborah Flicker, Fleetwood.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM from St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Mertztown, P.O. Box 117, Mertztown, PA 19539, to be used to support the bell choir or the Brandywine Community Library, 60 Tower Drive, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
