Greg R O'Neil

Greg R. O’Neil, 46, of Fleetwood died suddenly Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Bern Township, after being stricken in his home.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of Ronald L. O’Neil of Fleetwood and Lucille K. (Adam) wife of Barry L. Unger, Deer Lake, Schuylkill County. He was a heavy equipment operator since 1997 for Eastern Industries Quarry, Oley, where he served as a shop steward for the United Steel Workers Union; prior to that he worked on the family farm in Perry Township and was a truck driver for Ronnie Folk Paving, Shoemakersville. He was a US Marine Corps veteran. He was a member and currently serving as president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 839, Kutztown. He had also served prior terms as president, vice president and trustee. He was also a member of the Ray A. Master Post #217, American Legion, Topton.

He is survived by Parents, Paternal Grandmother Leah R. (Schaeffer) widow of Kermit E. O’Neil, Fleetwood; Sisters, Tammy S. O’Neil, Auburn, Schuylkill County, Shaun L. O’Neil companion of Scott A. Gingrich, Hamburg; Brother, Ryan A. husband of Tara A. (Hoagland) Bishop, Schuylkill Haven; Step Sister, Crystal D. Unger, Lehighton; Step Brothers, Barry W. husband of Georgiann (Stoffey) Unger, Topton, Christopher L. Unger, Boyertown and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Maternal Grandparents, Wilson T. and Tamsen L. (Merkel) Adam.

Funeral Services are Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, in Zion’s Cemetery of Perry Township. Friends may call Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the funeral home.
