Gloria R Balthaser

Gloria R. Balthaser, 80, of Maxatawny Township, formerly of Virginville, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Delman F. Balthaser. They were married June 3, 1950.

Born in Kutztown, she was a daughter of the late Peter S. and Gertrude E. (Reider) Sterner. Mrs. Balthaser was a 1949 graduate of Kutztown High School. She was employed as a Post Master in Virginville for 23 years, retiring in 1992. Mrs. Balthaser was an avid reader and gardener, enjoyed wildlife, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by Husband, Sons, Ricky L. husband of Candace E. (Gerlach) Balthaser, Fleetwood, and Randy S. husband of Colette R. (George) Balthaser, Troy, Bradford Co.; Sisters, Grace P. (Sterner) Folk, Norma J. (Sterner) Berger and Gayle E. (Sterner) Christman. She is also survived by 4 Grandsons and 3 Great Granddaughters. She was predeceased by Sisters, Myrtle Boyer and Dorothy S. Rentschler, and Brothers, Chester A. Reider, Charles F. Sterner, William Sterner, and Peter O. Sterner.

Graveside Services are Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, 19530. There are no calling hours. The family cordially invites family and friends to a gathering to be held following the graveside service at Kutztown Fire Company, 310 Noble Street, Kutztown.

The family requests contributions be made to the Humane Society of Berks County, Inc., 1801 North 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604-1506, or a charity of ones choice. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
