Gloria F. Smith

Gloria F. (Fox) Smith, 91, formerly of Fleetwood, died peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in Reading Hospital - Tower Health, West Reading.  She is the wife of Daniel Smith, Jr.  They were married November 25, 1951.  Born in Rockland Township, Gloria was a daughter of the late Warren B. and Mamie A. (Schlegel) Fox.  Gloria was a member of the former New Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Fleetwood, where she was active with the shoofly bakers.  Gloria was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Class of 1950.

Gloria was first employed in the clerical department for Caloric Corporation, at its former Topton plant for five years; then as a clerk for over 20 years at Boyer's Market, Boyer's Junction, until her retirement in 1980.

Gloria enjoyed crocheting, baking and decorating cakes and, she was an avid walker, completing 3 to 4 miles daily.

In addition to her husband of 72 years, Daniel, Gloria is survived by a daughter, Bonnie L. (Smith), wife of Dale L. Christman, Blandon; and a son, Stephen D. Smith, West Grove, Chester County.  Other survivors include a sister, Jane D. (Fox), widow of  Donald Seidel, Lenhartsville; a brother, Marlin R., husband of MaryAlice (Knittle) Fox, Kutztown; four grandchildren: Jessica A. Smith; Brooke L. (Christman) Biehl; Rebecca E. Smith, and Jared D. Christman; five great grandchildren: Blake D. Biehl, Baxter D. Biehl, Ella K. Christman; Chase L. Christman; and Maya M. Lee.  In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by a sister, Joyce F. (Fox) Miller.

A Funeral Service to Celebrate and Honor Gloria's life will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. from Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Corrine R. Dautrich, officiating.  Interment in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
