Gertrude L. “Trudy” (Ettinger) Stout of Topton formerly of Coopersburg died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she and her husband resided since March 1, 2005. She was the wife of William M. Stout Jr., having celebrated 60 years of marriage September 10, 2009.

She was a daughter of the late Earl and Gertrude (Koppenhaver) Ettinger. She was the beloved mother of Linda Rooney, Cindy Kubiet, Peggy Reed, and Judy Mauro; and grandmother of Derek Rooney, David & Aaron Reed, and Michael, Christina, and Rachel Mauro. Trudy was a 1949 graduate of Abington Memorial Hospital Nursing School. She began her nursing career in Bellefonte, resuming her career at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, and retiring from nursing at Rockville Mennonite Community in 1984.

Trudy was a stay-at-home mom for over 15 years devoting herself to her family, friends, gardening, Girl Scouts and choir. When her daughters were Brownies, she was the Brownie leader moving up with her daughters to eventually become a Cadet leader. Trudy loved to sing and was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church Chancel choir as well as several other choirs. She was a member of the Quakertown United Methodist Church before moving to Topton, where she became a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM from Grace Lutheran Church in the Henry Auditorium, located on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, One South Home Avenue, Topton. Interment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA. Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
