Mr. Gerald V. Picus

Gerald Vincent Picus, 94, of Kutztown, formerly of Pottsville and Wescosville, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township, PA. He was the loving husband of Mary D. (Walkusky) Picus, whom he married on February 1, 1958.

Born in Pottsville, Gerald was a son of the late Andrew and Margaret (O'Brien) Picus. He was a member of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. He was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School and later honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Navy, during World War II.

Gerald was a career railroad man working for the Reading Railroad, later to become Conrail, until his retirement in 1989. Gerald, along with his wife Mary and daughters Sharon and Tracey, raised Tempest Morgan horses. He enjoyed watching golf and baseball on TV and sitting with his dog and reading. Gerald was a proud nephew of a famous baseball player, John Picus "Jack" Quinn, who played for several major league teams from 1909 until 1933.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mary, Gerald is survived by his two daughters, Sharon M. Picus, Kutztown, and Tracey M. Picus, Hamburg.

Services for Gerald will be held privately in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville, PA.

In honor of Gerald's love for animals, especially dogs, his family requests contributions be made in his memory to an animal charity of your choice.
