George W. Stefaniak, 78, of District Township, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at DevonHouse Senior Living, Allentown. He was the loving husband of Gail F. (Makarchuk) Stefaniak, whom he married on December 5, 1975.

Born in Allentown, George was a son of the late George and Mary (Barna) Stefaniak and was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School. Following his high school graduation, George attended Kutztown University where he received his bachelor's degree in Elementary education. He also earned his master's degree in education from Lehigh University.

George dedicated his life to fostering the minds and hearts of young learners within the Upper Perkiomen School District for 36 years. He was employed by the Upper Perkiomen School District, first working at their middle school, but for most of his career, at Hereford Elementary School, until his retirement in June, 2004. His commitment to public education, marked by his respectful and nurturing teaching style, left an indelible impact on countless students and colleagues alike. Following his retirement from teaching, George was employed part-time at Valley Hardware in Mertztown for 10 years and DeTurk Hardware in Kutztown for several years.

In his younger years, George enjoyed playing rugby. He loved being outdoors, whether working around in his yard, in his home, or going fishing. He also enjoyed reading and lifting weights.

Along with his wife of nearly 49 years, Gail, George is survived by his three children, Maureen Stefaniak, Maryland, Karen M. Stefaniak, Lock Haven, PA, and Brian A. Stefaniak, and wife, Elle, Maryland; sister, Linda Stefaniak, Northampton, PA; and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Teddy Kennedy.
