George Roth, 91, of Fleetwood, formerly of Kutztown, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in the home of his daughter, Dianne P. Smith, with whom he resided. He was the former husband of Margaret M. "Peg" (Moore) Roth, and the late Betty (Keiser) Roth. He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty (Krueger) Roth who died in January, 1955.
Born in Emmaus, he was a son of the late George I. and Catherine (Beller) Roth. Mr. Roth was a 1940 graduate of Emmaus High School and attended Lehigh County Academic Prep School post high school graduation. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served at Pearl Harbor during World War II as Pharmacist Mate 2nd class and a qualified operating room technician, where he earned a victory medal. Mr. Roth was honorably discharged on January 22, 1946. He was employed as a foreman for Bohrer-Reagan Corporation, Reading, for many years until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Emmaus Historical Society and a member of the Sheet metal workers union. He attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, Kutztown.
He is survived by Daughters, Barbara A. (Roth), wife of Roger Blair, Guanajuato, Mexico, Dianne P. (Roth), wife of Thomas M. Smith, Fleetwood; Sons, Phil K., husband of Mary Claire (Hieter) Roth, Topton, Robert A., husband of Nanette (Keiser) Roth, Lyon Station, James J., husband of Raeanne (Reinert) Roth, Kutztown; Daughter-in-law, Patricia A. (Hilbert) Roth, Kutztown, widow of pre-deceased Son, Dr. Gary S. Roth; Step-Daughters, Susan E. (Algar) Richmond, Bordentown, NJ, Linda Algar, Wagener, SC; Guardian Child, Aneice K. (Roth), wife of Daniel Keim, Columbia, SC. He is also survived by 13 Grandchildren, Tamara, Tara, Scott, Kate, Marc, Jennifer, Melanie, Megan, Christopher, Ian, Teagan, Ryan, and Alyssa; and 14 Great Grandchildren, Brandon, Alica, Evan, Catelle, Alec, Taylor, Keller, Logan, Dawson, Brayden, Nicholas, Ashley, Dominic, and Lennon; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Interment, with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, and the U.S. Navy, officiated by Scott A. Staub, will follow in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Fleetwood. Friends may call Sunday, June 2, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
