George R Kennedy

George R. Kennedy, 82, of Rockland Township, died Friday, April 13, 2007, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, Lehigh County, near Allentown, where he was a patient two days. He was the husband of Gladys M. (Kroninger) Kennedy. They were married October 24, 1970.

Born in Reading he was a son of the late William A. and Grace M. (Richard) Kennedy. He was a graduate of Morgantown High School. He was the owner / operator of the former Ken-Way Transportation and the brokerage firm of Ken-Way, Inc., Mertztown for over 17 years until his retirement. Prior to that he owned and operated the former Kennedy Chevrolet, Kutztown. He was a member of Kutztown Fire Company. Kennedy honorably served his Country in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Rockland Township.

He is survived by Wife, Daughter, Patricia Kennedy, Birdsboro; Sons, Jerry R., Mertztown, Paul W. and Willard, both of Reading, Gerald, Morgantown, George, Mohnton; Brother, William, East Earl, Lancaster County; Grandchildren, Tara Elonis and Morgan Kennedy, Great Grandchildren, Ryly and Emma Elonis.

Funeral Services are Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 11:00 AM from Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment in St. Peter’s UCC Church Cemetery, Molltown. Friends may call Wednesday, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM and Thursday, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
