George A Haines Sr

George A. Haines, Sr., 80, of Alburtis, died Thursday, July 14, 2011. He was the husband of the late Charlotte (Knerr) Haines, who died in 1999. They were married 49 years.

Born in Alburtis, PA, he was a son of Kathryn M. (Berger) Haines, Alburtis, and the late Elmer Haines. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd U.C.C., Alburtis. George worked at Air Products in various supervisory positions for 37 years, retiring in November, 1986. He was also a part-time police officer for six years in Alburtis Borough. He was a member of the Alburtis Rod and Gun Club and served as their secretary for 26 years. He was also a member of the Alburtis Fire Company and the Nimrod Fish and Wildlife Association. He enjoyed playing baseball, fast pitch softball, hunting, fishing, golf and visiting the casino.

He is survived by Mother, Kathryn of Alburtis; Daughters, Ann E. (Haines) O’Shall, Allentown, Joette L. (Haines) wife of Lynn R. Conrad, and Lori K. (Haines) wife of Scott L. Lentz, both of Alburtis; Sons, Keith I., husband of Valarie A. (Kratzer) Haines, Lower Macungie Twp., George A. Jr., husband of Michelle L. (Wessner) Haines, Rockland Twp., and Michael R., husband of Amy L. (Fry) Haines, Bethlehem. There are also 9 Grandchildren, a Step Grandson, 5 Great Grandchildren and 2 Step Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a Brother, Robert Haines.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in Lehigh Zion Cemetery, Alburtis.
