George A. Bucci, 88, of Kutztown, formerly of Wayland, Mass. and most recently of Largo, Fla. died Monday, March 15, 2010 in the home of his son, Donald P. Bucci, with whom he resided. He was the widower of Antonette M. (Lanza) Bucci who died in 1987.
Born in Belmont, Mass., he was a son of the late Donato and Incoronata (Maffei) Bucci. He was a member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. He was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a mechanical engineer for over 40 years, first at Raytheon Corporation, Wayland Mass, then for Kintec, Saint Petersburg, Fla. He retired in 1982. George was also a professional baseball player with the Saint Petersburg Saints and the Tampa Bay Smokers. Mr. Bucci received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Mass. and a Master’s degree from Northeastern University, Boston.
He is survived by Sons, Donald P. husband of Nancy E. (Werme) Bucci, Kutztown and John V. husband of Susan (Dillon) Bucci, Cincinati, OH. There are 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Granddaughters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 10:00 AM from Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown. Inurnment in St. Leo’s Cemetery Leominster, Mass. will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Saturday, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church.
The family requests contributions be made Saint Mary’s Church, 14833 Kutztown Rd., Kutztown, PA 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
