Frederic W. Bratton, DDS, 77, of Alburtis, died Thursday, September 13, 2007, in St. Lukes Hospital, Bethlehem, where he was a patient since July 23, 2007. He was the husband of Nancy S. (Shiffler) Bratton. They were married February 2, 1952.
Born in McVeytown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late William S. and Mildred S. (Sunderland) Bratton. Dr. Bratton was a 1947 graduate of Mount Union High School, Mount Union, Huntingdon County, a 1952 graduate of Juniata College, Huntingdon, and a 1956 graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry, Philadelphia. He operated a private dental practice at 614 W. Emmaus Avenue, Allentown for 38 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a US Navy veteran from 1956 to 1958 serving in the dental corps while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. He was also a member of the local dental societies. Dr. Bratton loved many hobbies including woodworking, beekeeping, stained glass art, vegetable gardening and hunting. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Allentown, where he served on various boards and sang in the choir.
He is survived by Wife, Nancy; Daughters, Carol wife of Michael Zimmerman, Hummelstown, Dauphin County, Cynthia wife of Paul Reitz, Worchester, Mass., Jennifer wife of Keith Ritter, Quakertown; Sons, Donald and wife Lee Bratton, Marietta, GA, Kenneth and wife Margaret Bratton, Avon, CT; 10 Grandchildren. In addition, he was predeceased by Sister, Lois Keener.
Memorial Services are Saturday, September 22, 2007, 10:30 AM from Calvary Baptist Church, 4601 West Tilghman Street, Allentown. Interment is private at the convenience of the family. There is no viewing.
The family requests contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 4601 W. Tilghman Street, Allentown, PA 18104-3297. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
