Franklin T Pfeifly

Franklin T. Pfeifly, 93, of Lenhartsville, died Sunday, July 26, 2015 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the widower of Arlene M. (Shollenberger) Pfeifly who died November 20, 1997.

Born in Topton, he was a son of the late Preston W. and Sarah E. (Reber) Pfeifly. Mr. Pfeifly was a former member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Kutztown and a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was employed as a truck driver by East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc., Lyon Station, for 26 years, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, he worked as a truck driver for Chicago Express, New York, NY. Mr. Pfeifly was a member of the Antique Engine, Tractor and Toy Club. He also attended Grundsow Lodge #15, Kutztown and participated in Tall Tale competitions at The Kempton Community Center. An avid collector, Franklin enjoyed collecting hit-and-miss engines, tractors and clocks.

He is survived by Daughters, Audrey M. (Pfeifly), wife of Neil P. Merkel, Lenhartsville, Carol A. (Pfeifly), wife of Dennis J. Dorney, New Tripoli, Lucille M. (Pfeifly), wife of Daniel C. Walter, Douglassville; Son, Daniel W., husband of Shoanna (Kehm) Pfeifly, Slatington; 18 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren, and 15 Great-Great Grandchildren. Franklin was predeceased by a Son, Preston B. Pfeifly on October 12, 2013; and 9 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Raymond J. Hand officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Greenwich Township. Relatives and friends may call Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made in Franklin's memory to Weisenberg Lutheran Church, 7645 Weisenberg Church Road, New Tripoli, PA 18066. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
