Francis D Schlegel

Francis D. 'Pop' Schlegel, age 86, of 331 Schweitz Road, Rockland Township, Mertztown PA, died Thursday, June 29, 2000 at home. He was the widower of the late Dorothy L. (nee Flicker) Schlegel who died May 22, 1992.

Born in Rockland Township, Berks County PA, he was the son of the late Daniel and the late Kate (Miller) Schlegel. He was employed as a laborer at Carpenter Technology, Reading from 1945 until his retirement in 1976. He was also a part-time, self-employed farmer in the Rockland Township area for many years. He was a member of New Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Fleetwood PA. He was a United States Army veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his Daughters, Donna M. (Schlegel), wife of Glenn A. Kline of Mertztown PA, Kathleen M. (Schlegel), wife of Christopher Gotwals of Bechtelsville PA; Step Daughter, Joyce (Moyer), wife of Horace W. Rothermel of Fleetwood PA; Sons, Marvin F. Schlegel, Bruce E. Schlegel, Glenn A. Schlegel, Barry L. Schlegel, Elton J. Schlegel all of Mertztown PA, and Noel D. Schlegel of Topton PA; Sisters, Fern (Schlegel), widow of Carl Conrad, DE Brother, Roy L. Schlegel of Kutztown PA; 14 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson, 8 Step Grandchildren and 12 Step Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10:00 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown PA. Interment in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Fleetwood PA.
