Mrs. Evelyn H. Adam

Evelyn H. (Hixson) Adam, 95, of Topton, formerly of Kutztown, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022, in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Raymond S. Adam, who died February 13, 2013.

Born in Rockland Township, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Wilson Sr., and Jennie Irene (Boyer) Hixson. She was a 1944 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and worked at the former Kutztown Wallet Factory for several years. For most of her life, Evelyn was a homemaker who took great pride in her home and taking care of her family. She was well known for her baking, especially her famous Santa face cookies at Christmastime.

One of Evelyn’s favorite pastimes was riding her and her late husband’s 1939 Harley Davidson around for over 67 years. She also enjoyed entertaining others, whether it was singing, playing her accordion, performing her ventriloquism, or just making people smile. She was a lifetime member of the Fleetwood Grange, member of the Kutztown Women’s Club, Kutztown Historical Society and Kutztown Christian Women’s Club. Evelyn was very devoted to her faith and most recently attended Lighthouse Community Church, Lyons.

Evelyn is survived by her four daughters and their families, Evelyn E. (Adam), wife of William J. Kelly, Hatfield, Montgomery County, Gladys A. (Adam), widow of Jeffrey A. Adam, Hamburg, and fiancé of Jeffrey L. Fritz, Mt. Joy, Marian I. (Adam), wife of J. Timothy Gehman, Mohnton, and Suzanne M. (Adam), wife of John LaMastra, New Tripoli; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and sister, Violet (Hixson) Schaeffer, Ephrata. Along with her husband and parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Talbott, Dorothy Schaetzle, Pauline Reichert, Anna Miller, Miriam Kramer and Wilson Hixson, Jr.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Evelyn’s life will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Pastor Alton Zentner officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Moselem Church Cemetery, Richmond Township.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
