Eugene W Landis

Eugene W. Landis, age 73, of 1 South Haas Street. Topton PA, died Tuesday. September 19, 2000 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Allentown PA. He was the husband of Shirley L. (Barto) Landis. The couple celebrated their 50th Anniversary last April.

Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County PA, he was the son of Leah M. (Webb) Landis of Topton PA and the late Howard R. Landis. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was past Sunday School Superintendent and current Council member. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II. He was a supervisor at Lucent Technologies, formerly Western Electric, Reading PA for 30 years before retiring in 1987. He was a past president of the Topton Lions Club (1975-1976), Topton; a former member of the Topton Zoning Board, Topton; a member Huguenot F. & A.M. Lodge #377, Kutztown, where he served on various committees; and, he was a member of the chorus of the Brandywine Minstrels.

He is survived by his Wife and Mother; Daughters, Deborah J. (Landis) Flicker of Topton PA and Cheryl L. (Landis) Merkel of Franklin TN; Son, E. Michael Landis of Easton PA; Sisters, Joyce E. (Landis) Meck of Wescoesville PA, Thelma E. (Landis) Oleksa of Macungie PA, Brenda J. (Landis) Walbert of Bowers PA and Muriel C. (Landis) Rauch of Bowers PA; Brothers, Raymond R. Landis of Topton PA and Dale H. Landis of Kutztown PA; Six Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10:30 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Home Avenue and Smith Street, Topton PA 19562. Interment with Military Honors in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Friends may call Friday morning 9:00 AM until time of services.
