Ms. Ethel M. Schofer

Ethel M. Schofer, 85, of Topton, died peacefully Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in The Henry Health Care Center on the Campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton.  Ethel was the long-time companion of Klanroy Keiser, who died August 14, 2014.  Born in Topton, Ethel was a daughter of the late Elmer H. and Daisy M. (Mest) Schofer.  She was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Topton, and also a member of its choir.

Ethel attended Brandywine Heights Area Schools and graduated from Kutztown Area High School, Class of 1954.  Following her graduation, Ethel began a secretarial career in the insurance industry, first working for her father, E. H. Schofer & Sons Insurance & Bonds, Topton, then working for an insurance firm in Oley and finally an insurance company in Reading, where she completed her career and retired.

Ethel enjoyed playing cards and was a member of a card club in Topton for many years.  She was also a member of the Brandywine Minstrels, from its inception until her health prevented her from participating in its most recent years.

Ethel is survived by a niece, Barbara A. (Schofer) VanSyckle, Baldwinsville, NY; a nephew, Randy C., husband of Sharon L. (Holub) Craig, Muhlenberg Township.  Other survivors include: great nieces: Tracy (VanSyckle) Garrett; Andrea Craig; great nephews: Jeff Craig; Hunter Garrett.  In addition to her long-time companion Klanroy Keiser and her parents, Ethel was predeceased by two sisters, Melba Schofer and Lillian Schofer; and a brother Kermit Schofer.

A private graveside service will be held in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton, at the convenience of the family.  There are no public viewing or calling hours.
