Esther A. Christman, 88, of Lyons Road, Rockland Township, died Monday, March 29, 2004, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, 1200 South Cedar Crest Boulevard, Salisbury Twp., near Allentown, where she was a patient since March 20, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, LeRoy W. Christman, on Aug. 9, 1963.
Born in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Morris F. and Martha A. (Grim) Greenawalt. She was employed for 41 years as an elementary school teacher in the Kutztown School District, retiring in 1976. She was a life member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and the Berks County Retired School Employees Association. She was a graduate of Kutztown University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, and received a master's degree in 1951 from Kutztown. She was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Zion's Union Church, Maxatawny, where she had also served on the consistory.
She is survived by Brother, Walter G. Greenawalt, Allentown.
Services are Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment in Zion (Maxatawny) Union Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, March 31, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
The family requests contributions to U.C.C. congregation of Zions Union Church. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
