Ernest A Kern

Ernest A. Kern, 94, of South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown, PA, died Thursday, February 17, 2005, in the family residence. He was married to the late Irene M. (Herman) Kern who died April 27, 2003.

Born in Longswamp Twp., Berks County, PA, he was the son of the late James Kern and the late Katie (Rohrbach) Kern - Miller. He was employed at Hauck’s Metal Polishing, formerly of Kutztown, now in Lyon Station for 10 years until his retirement in 1990. Prior to that he worked as a carpenter and roofer for the former Earl Smith Roofing, Kutztown, and prior to that he worked at the former Kutztown Rug Mill for 20 years.

He is survived by Son, Gerald P. Kern, Kutztown (Maxatawny Twp.); Daughters, Shirley M. (Kern) Delcamp, Kutztown (Maxatawny Twp.), Diane R. (Kern) Walbert, Shoemakersville; Sisters, Mamie (Kern) Haas, Kutztown (Maxatawny Twp.), Lillian (Kern) Bauer, Allentown, Sadie (Kern) Heffner, Alburtis, Lehigh County; 19 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by Sons, Clayton Kern, who died in 1983, Larry J. Kern, who died in 1985 and Daughter, Goldie M. (Kern) Meitzler who died in 1994.

Funeral Services are Tuesday, February 22, 2005, 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown (Maxatawny Twp.). Friends may call Tuesday, 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
