Emily Ann (Lazo) Witzel, 39, loving wife, mother and daughter, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 14, 2023 as a result of a sudden medical incident. She was the wife of Joshua A. Witzel, whom she married on September 13, 2014.
Born in Reading in 1984, Emily was the daughter of Nicholas Lazo, Jr., and Natale C. (Colt) Lazo, of Kutztown. She was a 2002 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, where she was a member of the 2002 State Softball Championship Team. She was also a graduate of Lehigh Carbon Community College, where she was the first class to graduate from The Baum School of Art in Allentown and received her Associate's degree in Fashion Design.
Since September, Emily was employed by The Kutztown Area School District, working as a Paraprofessional at Kutztown Elementary School. She also operated E. Chic Fitness and Fashion, a handbag and personal fitness/training business. A kind soul with a radiant smile, Emily touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Emily was a very loving and kind woman who loved working out, watching movies, hanging out at home and was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. Above all, she loved her dear son Colt who was the light of her life. Together as a family, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Emily leaves behind her husband of nine years Josh; her five-year old son, Colt Arthur Witzel; parents Nick and Tally; her in-laws, Nance Witzel, Nazareth; Arthur and Barbara Witzel, Chagrin Falls, OH; her four-legged companion Ellie; aunts; uncles; cousins; nephews; and countless friends who will forever cherish their relationship with her.
A visitation to celebrate and honor Emily's life will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA. In honor of Emily's love for life, please wear bright colors.
The family requests contributions be made in her memory to the Emily Ann Witzel Memorial Fund c/o Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, P.O. Box 292, Kutztown, PA 19530. These funds will be used as a donation to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), in appreciation for the care that they gave to Colt when he needed it most.
