Ella M Reed

Ella M. Reed, 85, of Kutztown, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 in her residence. She was the widow of Nelson E. Reed, who died October 13, 1960.

Born in Upper Macungie Township, PA, she was a daughter of the late Norman E. and Lillie B. (Maitland) Haydt. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where she served many years on the kitchen committee. She was a waitress for the former Russell Helms Luncheonette, and former Hensinger’s Restaurant, Kutztown; a dyer for the former Wenton Shoe Company, Kutztown, and a packer for the former Kleinerts Shoe Company, Kutztown, and former David Crystal Company, Reading, and most recently a banquet server for the Kutztown Fire Company. Mrs. Reed was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kutztown Fire Company, where she was the secretary and treasurer for nearly 20 years, and she also ran the kitchen for Bingo at the Kutztown Fire Company.

She is survived by Son, Ronald N., husband of Debra L. (Long) Reed, Monroe, NC; Step Daughter, Donna (Reed) widow of Larry Fink, Bethlehem, PA; Sisters, Helen A. Haydt, Kutztown, and Marlene A., wife of Russell Clouden, Breinigsville, PA. Also surviving are 2 Grandchildren, Chelsea N. and Frederick N. Reed, and 3 Step Grandchildren, Todd Fink, Lisa (Fink) Hermany, and Tori (Fink) Rutherford. There are also 8 Step Great Grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a Sister, Elsie M. (Haydt) Pfeifly in 1988, and a Brother, Willard H. Haydt in 1954.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 10:30 AM in St. Paul’s UCC Church, 47 South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Tuesday evening, June 30, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown.
