Ella (Bartnick) Kropa, 98, formerly of Fleetwood and Dalton, Lackawanna County, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Phoebe Home, Allentown, where she was a resident since 2008. She was the widow of Alexander A. Kropa who died June 15, 1997.
Born in Factoryville, Wyoming County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Mary (Mintz) Bartnick. Mrs. Kropa was a member and former Sunday School Teacher of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scranton, and attended Huffs Union Church, Alburtis. Mrs. Kropa worked over 30 years as a housekeeper for John G. Moffat of the Moffat Coal Company, Taylor, PA.
She is survived by Daughter, The Reverend Jane Moffat Kropa wife of The Reverend Kerry W. Smart, Fleetwood. Other survivors include her Grandchildren, S.K. Devin Kropa-Smart, Eve L. (Kropa-Smart) Pino, and J. Adele Kropa-Smart. She was predeceased by Sisters, Emma (Bartnick) Loch, Martha (Bartnick) Swavola, Ann (Bartnick) Loch, Jewell Bartnick and Bertha Bartnick and Brothers, William Bartnick and Edmund Bartnick.
Funeral Services are Friday, May 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM from Huffs Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Dickson City, PA will be held at 3:30 PM Friends may call Friday, from 9:00 to 10:45 AM in the church.
The family requests contributions be made to Huff’s Union Church Memorial Fund, 540 Conrad Road, Alburtis, PA 18011 or Immanuel Church Cemetery, 238 Reese Street, Scranton, PA 18505-1449. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
