Elizabeth M Bard

Elizabeth M. Bard, 89, of Kutztown, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she was a resident one year. She was the wife of Henry E. Bard. They were married 66 years this past August.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late George J. and Cora A. (Swoyer) Schaeffer. She was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown. Elizabeth was a 1942 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and a 1944 graduate of Allentown Business College with a degree in secretarial sciences. Mrs. Bard worked over 40 years as a secretary. She first worked for what is now Kutztown University, Kutztown, the former Grim's Auto, Topton, the former Nothstein Ford, Kutztown and lastly Carl R. Bieber Tourways, Kutztown until her retirement in 1990. Liz, as she was affectionately known, was a life-time member of East Penn Chapter #336, Order of the Eastern Star, Kutztown; and a member of Kutztown Fire Company and its auxiliary.

She is survived by Husband; Sons, Michael H. Bard, Kutztown and Terrence L. husband of Susan J. (Ruch) Bard, Mertztown. Other survivors include 3 Grandchildren, Christopher M. Bard and Tyler J. and his wife Cassandra Bard; and Erika E. Bard. There are also 2 Great Grandchildren, twins, Logan Michael and Avery Elizabeth Bard. Elizabeth was predeceased by 2 Brothers, James and Nathan Schaeffer .

Private graveside services and inurnment in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, will be held at the convenience of the family .

The family requests contributions be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Elizabeth . Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
