Elizabeth B. (Buckner) Fritz, of Alburtis, PA died peacefully Saturday, June 24, 2023, in the Lutheran Home at Topton, Longswamp Township, PA. She was the wife of William C. Fritz, whom she married on June 12, 1987. Born in Tutwiler, MS, on February 2, 1938, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Emmett and Ruth (Jennings) Buckner, of Louisville, MS. Elizabeth was 85 years old.
Elizabeth (Beth) was a graduate of Louisville High School, Louisville, MS, Class of 1956. She continued her education at Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS, where she graduated in just 3 years, in August 1959, with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Education.
After being a stay-at-home mom for 18 years, Elizabeth began her professional career in the fall of 1977 at Phoenixville High School, Phoenixville, PA, teaching business classes. Later, she taught business, physics and chemistry at Saint Pius X High School, Pottstown, PA, until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed reading, folk music festivals, hiking, skiing, traveling, football, days at the beach, meeting new people and spending time with family and friends. She also possessed a terrific sense of humor and loved laughing with everyone in her life.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 36 years, William C. Fritz; by three children from a previous marriage: Debra M. (Melsheimer), wife of Manuel C. Almeida, Amherst, NH; Cynthia L. (Melsheimer), wife of Randy L. Kring, Phoenixville, PA; and Richard M. Melsheimer, husband of Luc F. Van Houtven, Heist-op-den-Berg, Belgium; and by two step-sons: William J., husband of Meghan D. (Lemery) Fritz, Glen Falls, NY; and David C. Fritz, Bensalem, PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Charles M., husband of Samantha A. (Estabrook) Almeida; Christopher J. Almeida; Katherine G. Almeida; Kelsey E. Kring; Rebecca L. Kring; and Charles D. Fritz. Elizabeth was predeceased by a brother, George J. Buckner.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Elizabeth's life will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 E. Weis St., Topton, PA 19562. There will be visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, and a Celebration of Life Service from 11:00 to 12:00 noon both at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held nearby directly following the service from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend all three events.
Interment of Elizabeth's ashes will take place privately with family members at a different time.
