Elizabeth A. "Tutty" (Hauck) Mest, 87, of Kutztown, passed away on Thursday evening, March 10, 2022 in her residence. She was the loving wife of Ryly J. Mest, whom she married on August 1, 1970.
Born in Maidencreek Township, Tutty was a daughter of the late Harry F. and Helen P. (Moyer) Hauck and was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kutztown. Tutty worked as a waitress at Valentino's Restaurant, Kutztown for 22 years until her retirement in 2009. She was a member of the former Kutztown Lioness for many years, where she served as a past president. She was also a member of the Kutztown Lions Club, Order of Eastern Star East Penn Chapter #366, Kutztown, the former Kutztown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kutztown.
In her free time, Tutty enjoyed going shopping, traveling, going to the casinos and going out to eat. She also enjoyed playing BINGO and would volunteer with the Kutztown Fire Company BINGO night.
Along with her husband of 51 years, Ryly, Elizabeth is survived by her children, Jeffrey L., husband of Rose (Vetter) Heinly, Sinking Spring and Jennifer L. (Heinly) Kurelia, Kutztown; grandchildren, Jason Heinly, Shannon Keeney, Jed Dietrich and Oliva Ford; great-grandchildren, Anthony Kenney, Bradley Heinly, Ellie Dietrich, Nova Dietrich and Han Dietrich; half-sisters, Sandra Schaeffer, Beverly Guistwite, Marilyn Baver; and half-brother, Robert Hauck.
Along with her parents, Tutty was predeceased by her sister, Marylou (Hauck) Carlstadt and brother, Richard W. Hauck.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Elizabeth's life will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Vicar Jeremiah T. Heydt officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Tutty's memory to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 E. Main Street, Kutztown, PA 19530.
