Eleanor K. Siegfried

Eleanor K. (Miller) Siegfried, 93 of Kutztown, died peacefully, Saturday, July 29, 2023, in her residence surrounded by her family.  She was the widow of Donald G. Siegfried, who died September 15, 1965.  Born in Maxtawny Township, Eleanor was a daughter of the late Nevin M. and Lizzie M. (Dietrich) Miller.  Eleanor was a member of New Jerusalem Zion United Church of Christ, Greenwich Township.

Eleanor was a housewife, dairy farmer, and did weekly huckster route trips to Reading selling eggs, produce and meats, on a 70-house route for over 40 years, first with her husband, then after his untimely death, with her sons, who continue to operate the family farm today.

Eleanor has resided on the family farm continuously for 75 years, where she enjoyed the entertainment and company of her two pussy cats, Rosie and Freddy.  Eleanor was a life-long member of Kutztown Grange.

Eleanor is survived by two sons, Dennis D. (74), husband of Alice R. (Helbert) (70), Siegfried, and Larry I. (70) Siegfried, both of Kutztown.  Other survivors include granddaughter, Alicia R. (Siegfried) (39), wife of Christopher (40) Ernst, Blandon; and four great grandchildren: Kayla Marie (21); Kameryn Rose (18); Katelynn Emily (14); Noah Christopher (10); and her great-great granddaughter Eleanor Marie Ernst 4 months. Eleanor was especially close to her nieces, Nancy L. (Miller) Scheidt, Kutztown; and Leatrice M. (Miller) Moatz, Topton; In addition to her husband and parents, Eleanor was predeceased by a brother, Irvin L. Miller, who died May 19, 2020; and a life-long friend Ruth K. Miller, who died April 30, 2020.

A Funeral Service to celebrate and honor Eleanor's life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. from Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Alton R. Zentner, officiating.  Interment in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Grimville. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.  The family invites those attending to do so in casual dress.
