Eldred J. Snyder, Jr., 91, of Fleetwood, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice, Allentown, PA. He was the widower of Althea D. (Stein) Snyder, who died on October 28, 2012.
Born in Allentown, PA, Eldred was a son of the late Eldred J. Snyder, Sr., and Hulda S. (Gangaway) Snyder and was a member of Ziegel’s Union Church, Breinigsville. Eldred honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed by the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 42 years in the bricklaying department as well as the blast furnace until his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of The United Steel Workers Union and a member of the Kutztown Beneficial Association, Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton and the Perry Township Game Association.
Eldred is survived by stepsons, Glenn R. Beck, Jr., and Dwight B. Beck; a brother, Larry J. Snyder; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his wife Althea, and parents, Eldred was predeceased by his stepson, Joel Beck; and stepdaughter, Melanie A. Beck, brothers, Edwin R. Snyder, Bruce Snyder and Barry Snyder; and uncle, Wilbur Gangaway.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Eldred’s life will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA. Burial, with military honors, provided by Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, PA, will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to viewing on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
