Edwin James “Jim” Scott, 76, of East Walnut Street, Kutztown, died Saturday, September 4, 2004, in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, where he was a patient since August 26 th . He was married to Martha D. (Ditlow) Scott. They were married November 7, 1948.
Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Edwin J. Scott, Sr., and the late Laura K. (Seibert) Scott. He was a project manager with Atlas Minerals & Chemicals, Mertztown for 11 years until his retirement in 1993. Prior to that he had been employed at the former Kutztown Foundry and Machine Division of Ingersoll Rand (now McConway – Torley) for 17 years having served for the last few years as General Manager. He attended Penn State University, Berks Campus, and Ursinus College, Collegeville, Montgomery County, PA. He was a member of Rotary International, Kutztown Club, having served as president in 1976. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #549, F. & A.M., Reading, PA. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Saint John’s United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where he served as a Deacon and Elder.
He is survived by Wife, Son, Murray J. Scott, Mohrsville, Berks County, PA; Daughter, Marsha A. (Scott) Burke, Glenn Rock, NJ. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Diana L. Davis, Adam J. Scott, Kathleen Ann Burke, Edmund F. Burke III, Bridget R. Burke and Daniel Thomas Burke.
Memorial Services are Saturday, September 11, 2004, at 10:30 AM from Saint John’s United Church of Christ Church, 257 West Walnut Street, Kutztown. Private Entombment in Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, Kutztown. Friends may call Saturday, 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the Church.
The family requests contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of Saint John’s United Church of Christ Church, 257 West Walnut Street, Kutztown. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
