Edna M Merkel

Edna M. Merkel, age 95. of 55 Rhoades Road, Greenwich Township, Lenhartsville PA, died Monday, December 25, 2000 at home. She was the Widow of the late William H. Merkel who died February 2, 1989.

Born in Greenwich Township, Berks County PA, she was the Daughter of the late Henry R. and Mattie M. (Kramer) Adam. She was a sewing machine operator at the former Kutztown Shirt Factory during the 1950's and a homemaker. She was a Member of New Jerusalem Zion United Church of Christ, 1456 Krumsville Road, Lenhartsville, Greenwich Twp PA. She was a volunteer for many years at Berks Heim, Reading PA and she was secretary of the Women's Aid Society of New Bethel Zion Union Church, prior to the split of the Lutheran and Reformed Union congregation.

She is survived by her Son, Wilson H. Merkel of Lenhartsville with whom she resided; 4 Grandsons, 8 Great Grandchildren and 1 Step Great Granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2000, at 2:00 PM from New Jerusalem Zion United Church of Christ, 1456 Krumsville Road, Lenhartsville PA. Interment in New Bethel Zion Union Cemetery, Grimville PA. Friends may call Thursday 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Church.
