Edgar M Johnson

Edgar M. Johnson, 90, of Kutztown, formerly of Topton, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 in HCR ManorCare, Laureldale. He was the widower of Mary J. (Leibensperger) Johnson who died March 6, 2010.

Born in Macungie, he was a son of the late Ella (Koller) Benson. Mr. Johnson was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Kutztown. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Johnson was employed as a maintenance supervisor by Weis Plaza, Kutztown, for 24 years, retiring in 2006. He was also employed by the former Crystal Bowl, Kutztown for 15 years. Edgar was an avid bowler for over 58 years, and also a fan of the Lawrence Welk television show.

He is survived by a Daughter, Linda L. (Johnson), wife of John G. Schofer, Wyomissing; Son, Martin W. Johnson partner of Mark A. Cohen, Norristown; Sister, Lagora (Benson), wife of Ralph Oswald, Kutztown; Grandchildren, Joel and Wendy Schofer, Jarad Schofer, Jeremy and Amber Schofer; Great Grandchildren, Erin R. Schofer and Nicholas R. Schofer, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, December 19, 2012, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Rendering of military honors will follow at 6:00 PM Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Johns United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 257 West Walnut Street, Kutztown, PA 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
