Edgar C Romig

Edgar C. Romig, 87, of Mertztown, died Monday, June 10, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Violet B. (Benjamin) Romig. They were married for over 40 years. His first wife, Evelyn (Fenstermacher) Romig died in 1969.

Born in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late Clarence and Annie (Geisinger) Romig. Mr. Romig was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Huffs Union Church, Alburtis. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. In 1962, he went to work for the former Empire Steel, Laureldale, until his retirement in 1987. He also worked on the family farm in Longswamp Township for many years. Mr. Romig was an original member of the former Longswamp VFW, Mertztown. He was also a member of Pike Township Sportsmens Association, and the local Plow Boys Association. Throughout his life, he loved having company at his home, fishing, boating, and spending time with his four-legged companion, Kirby, his Jack Russell terrier. Edgar was a loving husband, caring father, devoted grandfather, and friend to many.

He is survived by Wife; Daughter, Renee L. (Romig) Sufrinko, wife of Carl D. Solt, Topton; Granddaughters, Amanda L. Sufrinko, Orlando, Florida, and Annie L. Sufrinko, Mertztown; 3 nieces and 3 nephews. He was predeceased by his Twin Sisters, Mae (Romig) Biery, and Annabelle (Romig) Long; and a Brother, Wayne Romig.

Funeral Services are Friday, June 14, 2013 at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment, with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, will follow in Huffs Church Union Cemetery, Alburtis. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and Friday morning from 10:00 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
