Earl L. "Jim" Mayberry, age 77, of 54 Oswald Road, Lenhartsville PA, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 in his home. He was the Husband of Kathleen F. (Hoover) Mayberry. The couple celebrated their 28th Wedding Anniversary on April 7th.
Born in Schuylkill Haven PA, he was the Son of the late Ethel (Mayberry) Hoskins Musser. He was a Member of the New Jerusalem Zion UCC Church, Lenhartsville. He received his Bachelor of Science in Music from West Chester University, West Chester PA and his Masters Degree in Music from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia PA. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He also was a Member of the US Army Band. He was a Professor of Music at Kutztown University, Kutztown PA for 18 years before retiring in 1984. Prior to that he was a Music Teacher in the Phoenixville High School, Phoenixville PA and the Oxford High School, Oxford PA for a combined period of 18 years. He was the Choir Director at various Churches, last working in St. John's UCC Church, Kutztown, where he was also past Director of the Bell Choir. He was also past Director of Lukens Steel Band, Coatesville PA.
He is survived by his Wife; Daughter, Ruth M. (Mayberry) Bowman off Hillsville VA; Sons, Austin D. "Bud" Mayberry of Christiana PA and Barry M. Mayberry of Hillsville VA; 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Granddaughters.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 12:00 pm in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 1343 Long Lane Road, Kutztown. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of services in the Church. Interment with Military Honors in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., Kutztown PA.
