E Annette Robertson

Dr. E. Annette (Monroe) Mazzaferri Robertson, 78, of Wyomissing, formerly of Kutztown, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, in St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Bern Township. She was the wife of John J. Robertson, M.D. whom she married on January 9, 1999 and the late Dr. Anthony J. Mazzaferri who died on January 12, 1995.

Born in Wheeling, WV on June 17, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Rev. G. Karl, Sr. and Helen J. (Hartt) Monroe. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree (Speech) from Muskingum, College, New Concord, OH, her Master of Arts (Rhetoric) from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL; and, her Ph.D. (Speech and Theatre) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI. She was an instructor at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD from 1955 to 1957; an Academic Advisor at the Miami University of Ohio, Oxford, OH in 1958; Assistant Professor at the College of Mt. St. Joseph, Cincinnati, OH from 1959 to 1961; a Teaching Assistant and Wisconsin Fellow at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI from 1961 to 1963; an Associate Professor at Hood College, Frederick, MD from 1963 to 1965; and a Professor of Speech Communication and Theatre at Kutztown University, Kutztown, from 1965 until retiring in 1991. In 1966 she became the first chairperson of the new Department of Speech and Theatre at Kutztown University. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown, where she was an organist for many years and active in the Liturgy of the church.

She is survived by Husband, Daughter, Paula (Mazzaferri) wife of Mark A. Amadeo, Frederick, MD, and Grandchildren, Anthony C. Michael F., Caroline G. and Andrew G. Amadeo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Wescoesville. Friends may call Friday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM and Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM both in the church. Tributes will be shared at 7:30 PM Friday in the church.
