Duane K Moyer

Duane K. “Cacti” Moyer, 78, of Topton, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in his residence. He was the husband of Janet G. (Brintzenhoff) Moyer. They were married March 27, 1954.

Born in Alburtis, he was a son of the late Guy S. and Evelyn R. (Hoffman) Moyer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton. He was a 1951 graduate of Emmaus High School. Mr. Moyer was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp from 1953 to 1956, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was the Director of Operations for over 20 years at the Lutheran Home at Topton, retiring in 1999. Prior to that, he also worked at Sarco, Air Products, and Loma. Honors that he received were his Eagle Scout Award, Silver Beaver, Man of the Year for the Topton Rotary Club, and Outstanding Young Man of Topton. Mr. Moyer was a Scout Master for Topton Troop #110 from 1960 to 1974. He also was a member of the Alburtis and Mertztown Rod and Gun Clubs, Topton American Legion, Post #217 and a life member and former secretary for Nimrods, Alburtis. Cacti was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by Wife; Daughters, Michele Lynn Moyer, Stevensville, MD, Rebecca Ann (Moyer) wife of Kevin T. Boyer, Mertztown, Mona Dawn (Moyer) wife of Sheldon C. Boyer, Blandon, Beth Anne (Moyer) wife of Eric C. Sylvia, Chester, MD, Amy Ruth (Moyer) wife of Dean J. Kehl, Topton; Sons, Dean Larry, husband of Tracy (Roe) Moyer, Quakertown, and Duane Guy Moyer, Mertztown, PA. There are also 11 Grandchildren, Angela Dawn (Boyer), wife of Jeff Saadi, Katie Rebecca Boyer, Todd Michael Boyer, Brock Matthew Boyer, Allison Michele Brenton, Parker William Hackett, Madison Lynn Hackett, Nathan Duane Moyer, Spencer Lee Moyer, Henry Duane Moyer and Evelyn Rae Moyer; Brothers, Lynn B. Moyer, Macungie, and Neil G. Moyer, Emmaus.

Funeral Services are Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10:30 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Home Avenue and East Smith Street, Topton. Inurnment with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post #217, American Legion, Topton, will be private at the convenience of the family in Topton American Legion Garden of Honor. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the church.
