Dorothy R. (Ziegler) Morrison, 70, of Kutztown (Greenwich Township), PA and formerly of Macungie, PA, and New Jersey, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, October 24, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of William J. "Bill" Morrison, whom she married on July 3, 1976.
Born in Waltham, MA, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Bernard and Dorothy J. (Warnike) Ziegler, and was a graduate of Holy Rosary Academy High School, Union City, NJ. She then graduated from Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. For over 20 years, Dorothy was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Catholic School System in New Jersey. She worked at St Genevieve's School, Elizabeth, NJ, St. Michael Parish School, Union, NJ, and St. Joseph School, Carteret, NJ.
Dorothy was a talented artist who enjoyed pastel painting, crocheting, and making crafts. She also loved birds, gardening, being outside, reading, especially mysteries, and supporting her husband with his music and performances. Above all, Dorothy loved her family and will be sorely missed by those who were closest to her.
Along with her husband of 48 years, Bill, Dorothy is survived by her two children, Cynthia M. (Morrison), wife of Andrew J. Kropf, Macungie, and Christopher D., husband of Vanessa N. (Haas) Morrison, Bethlehem; two grandchildren, Olivia F. Mardak and Ava G. Morrison; and a sister, Maureen (Ziegler), wife of Ron Brinn, North Carolina.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and two children, William B. Morrison in 1994, and Kathryn A. Morrison in 1979.
A celebration of life memorial service for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Highland Estates Community Center, 60 Old Route 22, Kutztown, Pennsylvania 19530.
