Dorothy M Shade

Dorothy M. (Muth) Shade, 76, formerly of Kutztown, died on Friday, June 2, 2017 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she was a resident since November 2012.  She was the widow of Robert N. Shade, who died April 14, 2017. The couple was married for 50 years in March.

Born in Alburtis, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Stella W. (Schaeffer) Muth. Mrs. Shade was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a maker of bazaar church mice, for many years. Dorothy worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Mahoning Mills, Kutztown, last working in 2003.

Dorothy is survived by a Son, James C., husband of Erin S. (DeLong) Goldman, Maidencreek Township; a Daughter, Robin N. (Shade), wife of Eric W. Montgomery, Lower Macungie Township, and 2 Granddaughters, Sarina M. and Kara M. Montgomery.

Graveside services and interment for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, with her pastor, Reverend John W. Davies officiating. There are no public calling hours.
