Dorothy J. (Kraft) Dengler, 92, of Lower Macungie Township, formerly of Mertztown, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, in Lehigh Center, Lower Macungie Township. She was the widow Albert M. Dengler, who died May 4, 1998 .

Born in Lancaster , she was a daughter of the late Harold R., Sr., and Beatrice M. (Maynard) Kraft. Mrs. Dengler was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Slatington. Mrs. Dengler was a graduate of John P. McCaskey High School, Lancaster, a 1943 graduate of Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, and a 1946 graduate of Cedar Crest College, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was employed as the head nurse in Maternity at the former Allentown General Hospital, now Lehigh Valley Hospital, from 1956 to 1957. She then was a medical surgical supervisor at Allentown General from 1957, until her retirement in 1984. Mrs. Dengler was an avid knitter and reader; and enjoyed nature and her pets. She also enjoyed her time at Lehigh Center, where she was active with the Activity Department .

She is survived by Daughters, Jane E. (Dengler), wife of Joseph McAndrew, and Barbara A. (Dengler), wife of Richard R. Rader, both of Macungie; Sister, Elizabeth A. (Kraft), widow of Clifford Swoyer, Whitehall; 4 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by a Brother, Harold Kraft, Jr .

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Reverend Laura M. Stone officiating. Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Inurnment will be private in United Presbyterian Church's Memorial Garden .

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lehigh Center Activity Department, Attn. Jill Stopay, 1718 Spring Creek Road, Macungie, PA 18062 . Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
