Dorothea M Boyer

Dorothea M. (Kunkel) Boyer, 84, of Hamburg, formerly of Greenwich Township, died Thursday, October 20, 2016 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. She was the wife of William J. Boyer, Jr.  They were married October 7, 1950 .

Born in Albany Township, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence H. and Leona M. (Bennicoff) Kunkel.  Dorothea was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown.  She was active in various church organizations over the past 50 years. Dorothea was a 1950 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Mrs. Boyer was employed as a baker for Kutztown Area School District for over 20 years until her retirement in 1994.

In addition to her husband, William, of 66 years, Dorothea is survived by 2 Sons, D. Keith husband of Manette L. (Geist) Boyer, Virginville; Michael L. husband of Barbara J. (Allgyer) Boyer, Kutztown; 2 Daughters, Debra A. (Boyer) wife of James E. Kohler, Hamburg; and Lorene F. (Boyer) wife of Randall J. Heffner, Lenhartsville.  Other survivors include 2 Sisters, Elaine K. (Kunkel) wife of Melvin Schumaker, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County; and Marie E. (Kunkel) widow of Kenneth Garrett, Maidencreek Township; a Brother, Karl L. husband of Louise (Heffner) Kunkel, Kempton; 12 Grandchildren, Lisa Boyer, Danette (Boyer) Seidel, Laura Boyer, Katelyn Boyer, Brett (Boyer) Rocha, Jonathan Boyer, Heather (Boyer) Kline, Melissa (Kohler) Horvath, Brad Kohler, Scott Kohler, Douglas Heffner and Steven Heffner; and 21 Great Grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dorothea was predeceased by a Brother, Kenneth Kunkel.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 3:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown, with Reverend Keith K. Rohrbach, officiating. Friends may call Sunday, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM in the church. Inurnment is private at the convenience of the family.

The family requests contributions be made in memory of Dorothea to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 357 West Main Street, Kutztown, PA 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
