Doris R Bortz

Doris R. Bortz, 85, of Greenwich Township died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, shortly after admission. She was the wife of the late Quinton E. “Lindy” Bortz who died on April 14, 1999.

Born in Towamensing Township, Carbon County, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Mabel (Steigerwalt) Green. She was a member of the UCC congregation of Ziegel’s Union Church, Breinigsville. She was also a member of the “Helping Hands” group for many years at New Jerusalem Zion UCC Church, Lenhartsville. She worked on the custodial staff at the Bandit Truck Stop, Kutztown, retiring in 2005. Prior to that she was the head cook at Terry’s Place Diner, Kutztown, for 20 years.

She is survived by Daughter, Linda C. Bortz, Allentown; Sons, Lane C. husband of Geraldine M. (Hartzell) Bortz, Neil C. husband of LuAnn M. (Derr) Bortz, Dean C. husband of Debra A. (Stopp) Bortz, all of Kutztown; Sisters, Betty M. (Green) widow of Harold Schrantz, Exeter Township, Janice L. (Green) widow of Lee Heffner, St. Cloud, FL, Geraldine J. (Green) wife of Jeremiah Heffner, Kutztown; Brother, Charles E. husband of Kathryn (Smith) Green, Kutztown; Grandchildren, Rebecca S. (Bortz) wife of Richard Reis and Stacy A. (Bortz) Ellis, both of Bethlehem, Timothy A. Bortz, Kutztown; Great Grandchildren, Tyler A. Zaklukiewics, Keith A. Ellis, Jr. and Madison C. Reis.

Funeral Services are Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10:30 AM in Ziegel’s Union Church, 9990 Ziegel’s Church Road, Breinigsville. Interment in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.
