Doris S. (Law) Markle, 96, of Richmond Township, died peacefully Monday evening April 14, 2025, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carlene Markle. She was the widow of William A. Markle. Born in West Reading, Doris was a daughter of the late Forrest and Anna (Witman) Law.
Doris was a graduate of Birdsboro High School, class of 1946. She went on to work as a teller for several area banks, most notably, American Bank. She then worked in the claims department for MetLife.
Doris is survived by three children: Carol A. (Markle), wife of David Baver, Ephrata, Lancaster County; Linda M. (Markle) Adams, Mertztown; and Gary W., husband of Carlene M. (Webber) Markle, Kutztown. Other survivors include five grandchildren: Carl Baver; Stephanie Baver; Kimberly (Adams) Wartzenluft; Robert Markle; and William Markle. There are also numerous great grandchildren.
A private graveside service to honor and celebrate Doris' life will be held in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, at the convenience of the family. There are no public viewing or calling hours.
