Doris J. Wanamaker, 80, of Lower Gwynedd Township, Montgomery Co., died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in The Birches of Arbour Square, Harleysville, where she had been a resident since June 2011. She was the wife of the late Carl D. “Corky” Wanamaker, who died April 7, 2011.
Born in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery Co., she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Bessie (Krause) Christman. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ambler. Doris was a 1949 graduate of East Greenville High School, and attended nursing school. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America for many years, and a member of WELCA at her church. Doris was a homemaker. She was a part of the “Big Ben” project, under the direction of the U.S. Government, from 1953 to 1954.
She is survived by Daughters, Karen S. (Wanamaker) wife of Rev. Dr. Kevin J. Cassidy, Kingston, MA, and Cyndi L. (Wanamaker) wife of Michael J. Lovas, Eagleville; Sister, Anna (Christman) Hensinger, Longswamp Township; Brothers, Carl Christman, Topton, David Christman, Marietta, GA. There are also 3 Grandchildren, Melissa, David and Katie Cassidy. She was pre-deceased by a Brother, Edward Christman, and Sister, Gloria Christman.
Funeral Services are Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment in Topton Union Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
Flowers may be sent or contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Ridge and Race Streets, Ambler, PA 19002. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
