Doris J. Miller

Doris J. (Schwoyer) Miller, 91, of Mertztown, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill Assisted Living Center, Pottsville. She was the widow of Wayne I. Miller, who died on August 19, 2010. Born in Rockland Township, Doris was a daughter of the late George A. and Sadie Mae (Breidegam) Schwoyer. Mrs. Miller worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Fleetwood Shirt Factory, Fleetwood, and Berkshire Knitting Mills, Reading. Doris enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by a daughter, Dawne K. (Miller), wife of Terry L. Clay, Mohrsville, two grandsons, Thor E. and Jeb D. Shaffer, seven great grandchildren, and a sister, Anna L. (Schwoyer), widow of Dallas A. Angstadt, Mertztown. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and a sister, Jean (Schwoyer) Oswald.

A funeral service to celebrate Doris's life will be held on Tuesday. December 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Pastor Barry Spatz officiating. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.in the funeral home.
