Donna M. Schwoyer

March 8, 1947 — August 29, 2025

Lyon Station, PA

Donna Marie (Folk) Schwoyer, 78, of Lyon Station, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she had been a resident since 2016. She was the beloved wife of Arlan R. "Puss" Schwoyer, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, Donna was the daughter of the late Russell F. and Dorothy N. (Miller) Folk. A proud 1965 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, she went on to work for Kutztown University for over 25 years. She started as a cook and later became a custodian in the dormitories, where her natural warmth made her a second mother to many students. She retired from the university in 2009.

Donna was an active and cherished member of the Lyons community. Known for her generous spirit, she was always ready to lend a hand, from painting eggs for the annual egg hunt to feeding Santa after his trip around town. She also gave her time to the concession stand at the Lyons ball field and organizing and preparing beloved home-cooked meals, like turkey BBQ and her family-favorite chicken noodle soup, for the Annual Lyons Fiddle Festival.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a dedicated member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she volunteered at many church events and activities.

Donna loved her annual family vacation to Ocean City, New Jersey, where she enjoyed combing the beaches for seashells to turn into crafts. She cherished walking the boardwalk with her grandchildren and ending the night with chocolate custard. Her compassionate and giving heart, witty sense of humor and unwavering love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Arlan, Donna is survived by her three children: Michael S. Schwoyer, partner of David S. Watral, Jr., of Mechanicsburg, PA; Tracie L. (Schwoyer), wife of Robert Morgan, Jr., of Parkville, MD; and Cory A. (Schwoyer), wife of John P. McKeever, of Palmerton, PA. She also leaves behind her sister, Virginia F. "Tootie" (Folk), widow of Ronald Schwoyer, of Lyons, PA; and six grandchildren: Tobin A. McKeever and wife, Damaris, Lucas J. McKeever, Joelle M. McKeever, Kassidy R. McKeever, Garrett R. Morgan, and Paige L. Morgan. She is also survived by her step-granddaughter, Jessy A. Morgan, step-great-grandchildren, Sargeant A. Morgan and Saylor A.J. Morgan, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her sister, Carol J. (Folk) Gambler, and her beloved canine companion, Johnson.

A memorial service to celebrate and honor Donna's life will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Rd, Bowers, PA, with The Reverend Martin Milne officiating. Burial will follow in Lyons Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church.
