Donald R Geist

Donald R. Geist, 77, of Alburtis, died Monday, September 7, 2009 in The Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp, Allentown, where he was a patient since August 25 ^th . He was the widower of Mary Ann (Merkel) Geist, who died October 15, 1992.

Born in Allentown, PA, he was a son of the late Robert A. and Elsie (Stauffer) Geist. He attended Macungie Christian Church. He was a US Air Force veteran. Mr. Geist was a lineman and later a supervisor at Mack Trucks, Inc. Macungie for 27 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Virginville Grange, National Experimental Aircraft Association, and also the NRA. He was an avid hunter. Mr. Geist along with his wife took care of 42 foster children in their home.

He is survived by Daughter, Ann G. (Geist) wife of Alan C. Hersh, Allentown; Sons, Scott L, husband of Gabriela I. (Cristea) Geist, Chiefland, FL, Earl A. Wagenhurst, at home, and Anthony K., husband of Lillian F. (Guynn) Geist, Germansville, PA; Sister, Dolores (Geist) wife of Robert Crossley, Vera Cruz; Brothers, Clifford A., husband of Sandra Geist, Emmaus, and Robert K. husband of Naomi Geist, Macungie, PA. In addition, there are 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services are Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA 19530. Interment will be in Dunkel’s Church Cemetery, Kutztown with military honors performed by the Ray A. Master American Legion, Post #217, Topton. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening, September 9, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the funeral home.
