Donald R. Berg, 83, of Topton, formerly of Kutztown, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 in The Lutheran Home at Topton where he was a resident over 5 years. He was the widower of Helen L. Berg who died February 11, 1993.

Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Elmer W. and Mary Susan (Keim) Berg. Mr. Berg was a member of Saint Johns U.C.C. Church, Kutztown and was a member of its consistory, serving as a deacon, elder and candy maker. Donald was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Kutztown High School in 1946. Mr. Berg was employed by the US Postal Service for over 39 years, retiring as Assistant Post Master of the Kutztown Post Office. Donald was a charter member of Camp EdMar, Kutztown, Boy Scout Leader of Troup 153, Kutztown and had attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Mr. Berg was a member of the Board of Directors of Saucony Cross and Fairview Cemetery, both of Kutztown.

He is survived by Daughter, Lauren R. (Berg) wife of Barry J. Berger, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County; Son, Kenneth D. husband of Pamela A. (Muck) Berg, Kutztown. Other survivors include a Sister, Mary Louise (Berg) wife of Luther L. Luckenbill, Topton and Grandchildren, Carolyn E. (Berger) wife of Jim H. Pfau, Emily A. Berger, Christopher H. Berg, Sarah A. Berg and Step Granddaughter, Mary E. Story. There are also 2 Step Great Grandchildren, Emily and Dominic Pfau. Also, surviving is a beloved friend, Lois Daub, Coudersport. Mr. Berg was predeceased by a Sister, Catherine V. (Berg) Schlenker and a Brother, Stanley W. Berg.

Funeral Services are Saturday, October 20, 2012, 11:00 AM from Saint Johns United Church of Christ Church, 257 West Walnut Street, Kutztown, 19530. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Friday, October 19, 2012, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, and Saturday, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.
